The founder of Zebra Consulting International, Mr. Asratie Asfaw Teferra, has an impressive career of over 20 years managing and overseeing development and humanitarian projects in Africa and the United States. He served the World Food Program Refugee Logistics Unit monitoring the middle and end part of the food distribution for over 335,000 Refugees in Eastern Ethiopia under difficult environment and six trucking agencies delivering over 5800 metric tones of food per month. He has been a Logistics Consultant on behalf of Unicef Health Section of Ethiopia to the Ministry of Health EPI Division of the Ethiopian government overseeing the distribution of vaccines, essential drugs, and medical equipment that come to the country in line with the Country Program of Cooperation. Here in the US he has been a corporate official in both for profit and non-profit American corporations. At present, he divides his time between his position as an Implementation Consultant for Verizon Telecom and as a Lobbyist for the Books for Africa National Capital Region.

 

Since coming to the United States in 1996, Mr. Teferra has been a community leader in the Minneapolis-St. Paul, Chicago, and Washington communities spearheading initiatives to help Africans and African-friendly persons work to fight against illiteracy, poverty and HIV-AIDS. Mr. Teferra has served as the board president of Sun Ovens Ethiopia Inc, Co-founder and President of the Ethio-America Community Service Agency, and as co-president of the board of Illinois Society for International development. He is married to his wife of 17 years Askale Shiferaw and is the father of five adopted children from Ethiopia.
